Teleflex Inc. adds to their growing product portfolio
Standard Bariatrics was founded in 2014 by Dr. Jon Thompson, a UC Health surgeon. Since it began its journey to create revolutionary technology, StandardBariatrics has raised $55 million. In 2021, the company’s Titan SGS® was cleared by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA). One year later, Standard Bariatric was acquired by Teleflex, a global provider of medical technologies, for $300 million.
Standard Bariatrics provides unique product in gastrectomy market
Standard Bariatrics launched in 2018 with a sleeve gastrectomy clamp, then received FDA approval for its flagship Titan SGS surgical stapler in late 2021, achieving $1 million in sales within three months. The Titan SGS is the market’s only stapler designed specifically for sleeve gastrectomy, featuring a continuous 23cm staple line that allows surgeons to complete the procedure in one firing rather than multiple overlapping insertions, potentially reducing complications and improving staple line security.
